Default Grey water overfill

Has anyone forgot to open the grey water dump until you detected a sewer gas oder in your unit? I did, but instead of the water backing up in the shower like it did one time in our Cardinal, it spilled out into the insulation on the bottom of the unit. Is there a vent on top of the grey water tank that allows this? If so how come it does not spill out going down the road on those rare occasions when a dump is not handy? Or do I have a bigger problem?

Default gray water

I have the 2008 tksb3 when mine over fills it backs up in the shower but it will also tip the heater out when that happend it made me think for a while to understand that. the heater sits on top of the grey water tank and the tank swells when it is full which tips the heater out.

There could be a vent in the in the utility area behind the storage area that vents the gray water from the washer drain. Check and see if you have a small vent in the area. It could be coming out from it. Its the same type of vent you could find under the sinks.

Default Grey water mess

Randy, the vent for the laundry is in the laundry closet and is above the level of the drain for the shower. The vent on it was barely on, so I am gald you mentioned it. Today I cut flaps in the coach bottom to air out the insulation. Foul smell is agian in the coach. I will call DRV tomorrow for help.

Good news is that our refrigerator has now worked for 2 days. Maybe it has healed itself.

When I was looking at our 2010 36tk3 MS online in Feb. I saw some plastic pipe running straight up on the left side of front control closet by the entrance door. This closet contains controls for slides, ect. The factory rep said this is the tanks vent pipe, which goes to the roof. I then noticed the plastic pipe had a (y) connection at about closet bottom level ,left side.
I also noticed a lot of wiring in the same location.

I'm not sure if your Suite is set up the same or if they made changes.
When I overfilled the grey tank on our old 5/w (Openroad) I found a place that the pipe connection was not sealed. That connection was just pushed together. I bought some pvc cement, fixed it,and no more problems.
I'm not sure if this is your problem, but maybe something to check out.

DRV also redesigned the grey tank so when you overfill it you don't push up your furnace. There were a few upgrades in 2010 that the factory rep pointed out. It looks like DRV is always trying to improve the Suites.

Good Luck,
orkirk

Don,

We had the same problem with our 2004 RE3. Only happened once when I did laundry and then we forgot to open the gray tank.....

Default Grey water overfill

I think I have solved the problem of the odor under the kitchen sink. This evening I got into the storage area next to the TV to get some trash bags. The storage area had the same bad odor. You guessed right. The scented trash bags have the same odor as grey water, and my wife kept one in the wastebasket under the sink. We did have a grey water spill in the belly of our rig, and in the process of trying to find the leak in the grey water tank, we discovered that the toilet had been leaking for some time. Broken floor flange was the cause, so I guess the grey water spill was a blessing. Without it we would never have found the toilet leak.
